CPD Review

The Bar Standards Board established a working group to review Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the Bar in late 2009. The yearlong review commenced in January 2010 and is the third major review of Education in as many years.

The CPD Review Working Group, chaired by Derek Wood QC, included both barrister (employed and self-employed) and lay membership. There has been extensive face to face consultation with the Inns of Courts, COIC, Specialist Bar Associations, Circuits, Barristers Chambers, various Bar Committees and CPD Providers. Comparisons have also been drawn from other leading professions.

The Review Group has now reported to the Board, we will consult on the outcomes for a three month period from June:

 Any revised CPD system will not take effect until January 2013, at the earliest.
