Complaints Commissioner
The Complaints Commissioner, Dr Ann Barker, oversees the complaints procedure. She is not a lawyer. She reports to the BSB and is independent of the Bar, enabling him to make impartial decisions. She has a career background as a senior civil servant dealing with the standards of conduct in public life.
Complaints and Investigations Staff
The Complaints Department Iis split into two sections. There is a Complaints Team, which consists of the Complaints Manager, two Complaints Officers and a secretarial team.
Their role is to facilitate the complaints procedure up to and including any decision made by the Complaints Committee. The Complaints staff do not have any decision making power relating to your complaint
When the Complaints Committee refers a complaint to a disciplinary hearing, the file is passed to the Investigations Team, which consists of an Investigations Manager, two Investigation Officers, an Assistant Investigation Officer, and an administration team. The Investigations team prepare complaints files for disciplinary hearings.
