Published Disciplinary Findings

This section of the website provides details of all publishable findings and sentences imposed by Disciplinary Tribunals and Summary Procedure Panels since October 2002. This information is posted in accordance with the Bar Standards Board’s  policy on the publication of disciplinary findings

 

 

 

You can search by name of barrister (last name), month and/or year, sentence (whether disbarred, suspended or other sentence), type of hearing (whether summary hearing, visitors hearing (appeal) or disciplinary tribunal), and type of offence (keyword search).

The information provided includes the barrister’s name, employment status (whether they are self-employed, employed or non-practising; if they are self-employed, the name of the Chambers from which they practised at the time of the Finding), the findings and sentence and the date on which the finding was made. 

Please note that the status of the barrister, and any address from which they are shown as practising, is based on information available at the time the website entry was made.  The information is not updated and therefore it may not reflect the current status of the barrister or their current practising address.

Each set of findings is accorded a status on the following basis:

It should be noted that where a barrister has submitted an appeal, the sentence will not be implemented until after the outcome of the appeal is known.

This section of the website is updated regularly. New findings are posted within seven days of a decision. More detailed information about individual cases can be obtained from the Investigations Team of the Bar Standards Board who will also be able to answer any queries relating to this section of the website (Tel: 020 7611 1444).
