BSB response to SRA standards for solicitor higher court advocates

The BSB has issued a response to the Solicitors Regulation Authority's consultation titled, 'Standards for solicitor higher court advocates and outline proposals for a new accreditation scheme'.

The Wood Report: improvements to BVC

A new aptitude test for students wishing to enter the Bar Vocational Course (BVC), and a wide range of improvements to update the course and make it more fit for purpose, are among the key recommendations of a report from the BVC working group chaired by Derek Wood QC, presented to the Bar Standards Board at its meeting on Thursday 17 July.

Bar Conference 2008

The Bar Conference 2008 will be held on Saturday 1 November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. Attendance at the Conference provides up to 6 hours of CPD for all barristers who attend.

Legal Services Ombudsman backs BSB's reform programme

Major reviews of education and training

Following on from the BSB's review of the BVC, which will be reporting in the summer of 2008, a working group is being set up to review Pupillage and another group will be created to review CPD.
